What are the methods of die casting?

Sep,26 2024

There are several methods of die casting. The main ones include:

1. Hot chamber die casting:
– Used for low melting point metals like zinc, lead, and magnesium
– Molten metal is injected directly from a furnace into the mold cavity

2. Cold chamber die casting:
– Used for higher melting point metals like aluminum and copper alloys
– Molten metal is poured into a shot chamber before being injected into the mold

3. Vacuum die casting:
– Uses a vacuum to remove air from the die cavity before injection
– Produces parts with less porosity and higher density

4. Squeeze casting:
– Combines elements of forging and casting
– Uses high pressure during solidification to produce dense, high-quality parts

5. Semi-solid metal casting:
– Uses metal in a semi-solid state rather than fully liquid
– Can produce complex shapes with less shrinkage and porosity

Each method has its advantages and is chosen based on factors like the metal being used, desired part properties, production volume, and cost considerations
